American adventure part 3: Indianapolis

At the end of the week we packed up from Michiana, probably leaving some socks behind, and took our various routes to Indianapolis.  We opted to go via Lafeyette so we could have a stopping point at a nice little zoo. Being not-yet-hot-enough-for-summer, we couldn't include the water park, but did have fun in the sun seeing some wallabies, monkeys, otters, and the like.

The goats were quite fun.  Here is Tom near a goat.

Here is Tom having just realised he's near a goat.

Here is Tom protecting himself against future goat proximity.

Here is Elspeth feeding some goats (note: not paying much attention to goats).

Here is Elspeth surprised by a goat.

Here is Elspeth telling her herd that she's run out of food.  They lost interest quite soon after.

There was an eagle on the wall.  I don't really recall that there were actual eagles but there might have been.  If they were, they'd have had a larger wingspan than Tom.

For post-zoo pudding we went to the first Drive Thru Frozen Custard shop I've ever seen.  See also non-drive thru frozen custard shops.

Mostly on the pre-wedding day in Indy we went to the Children's Museum.  Before this though we had pancakes.  This was a good pancake shop.  They provided 4 whole different syrups.

We really did spend hours and hours at the museum.  Dinosaurs, pirates and princesses, hot wheels, China, mirror mazes, etc.  And a water clock that looked great but was a little unspectacular in operation.

My very favourite thing was the glass sculpture which filled the middle of the stairwell (actually a rampwell).  The above-ground tower bit was quite nice, but I really liked the underneath ceilingy bit.  I got lots of time to take photos and enjoy the light and colours which Marisca and Tom made their own glass sculpture.

All in, a nice visit!
